Summer is here!
After an unusually cold and snowy winter here on the beautiful West Coast (yes, my Hawaiian friends, we were forced to wear snow boots, the Canadian version of your flip flop slippers!) we are more than ready for summer!
For our family, summer marks several things. For the kids of course, the end of another school year (yippee!) For our deep freezer, the chance to be defrosted and prepped to be re-filled with a summer bounty of U-pick berries and garden produce. For Julia, a birthday celebration on the first day of summer, (“Midsommar” for our Scandinavian friends) often with a stellar performance of some sort by our kids – we’ve had bike shows, gymnastic displays (our garden fence makes a great balance beam!) and theatre productions of The Wizard of Oz and, most recently, Peter Pan! And, for the band, summer shows!
Not only is the weather heating up, but so is our schedule! Wow, we are so excited about the variety of cool venues and events we get to be a part of this summer! And, for a number of the shows we will be joined by 5 incredible musicians from The Langley Fine Arts School. We are triple-stoked about that! We will be performing as a full band with drums, bass, guitars, ukulele, djembe, trombone, trumpet, trumpet, and tuba! That’s right, tuba! That’s in addition to Emma, Ryan, Sarah, Jacob, Daddy, and our friend Brad on vocals. And our smallest member…..Allie the dog. She sings on one of our songs, has a great bark and never bites.
